According to reports, Boko Haram militants have again gone on rampage in a Borno community leaving death and destruction in their wake.
The insurgents were said to have invaded Shaffa in Borno on Wednesday, September 24 and reportedly killed at least 20 people.
The incident was confirmed to Sahara Reporters by one Emmanuel Wida, a pastor resident in the area.
Wida said:
“They opened fire on villagers and set churches and homes on fire,”
“As
soon as we heard their screams, gunshots followed. My younger brother
is among those killed,” said the pastor, adding that survivors had
collected 20 bodies so far.
“All our churches as well as many homes were razed down,”
He also added that the attack lasted for 3 hours and the terrorists screamed “Allahu akbar!” as they wreaked havoc.
This
attack comes after the Nigerian military confirmed that a man posing as
the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, has been killed.
