According to a BBC report, Boko Haram terrorists have captured the town of Banki in Borno state.
The town, which is on the country’s border with Cameroon, has reportedly been left deserted after an attack by the insurgents.
Residents of Banki allegedly told the BBC that the soldiers assigned to the area had abandoned their duty posts when the terrorists attacked on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
A member of the community reportedly said that almost all the men had fled leaving only women and children behind in the town.
Boko Haram is said to have taken over the town of Bama earlier this week in a move that is believed to be part of attempts to invade Maiduguri, the state capital.
